A Brief History of Laura Ashley...

Born and raised in Wales, Laura Ashley originally only specialized in women's wear like headscarves and table mats.  The company was started at the turn of the 20th century by a couple named Bernard and Laura Ashley. They manufactured home decorating materials based on 19th century designs. In a unique partnership of marriage and business Laura would design the prints while Bernard built the printing equipment. Once the Ashley family had children, she changed her Laura Ashley bedding line into an international chain of stores specializing in bedding, wallpapers, fabrics and clothing made from natural fabrics. Today, Laura Ashley bedding carries her trademark style.
